A year ago the legal battle between Epic and Apple began, when Epic Games tired of paying the 30% commission from the App Store and launched its own payment platform, causing Apple to ban Fortnite from its store.
It was recently that both companies decided to take out the heavy artillery, bringing their respective CEOs to the witness stand, according to court documents. On the Apple side we will see Tim Cook (CEO), along with Craig Federighi (Head of Software) and Matt Fisher (Vice President of the AppStore) who were added to the list of tentative witnesses, according to Reuters reported.
On the other hand, Epic Games announced Tim Sweeney (CEO and Founder), Steve Allison (Game Store Manager) and Thomas Ko, who is the head of online business strategy, along with other witnesses.
Both sides have their version of events, where Epic Games said: “Many developers have raised their voice against Apple and its anti-competitive practices, and more and more are joining,” for its part Apple through a statement to Bloomberg that “They feel confident that the case will show that Epic Games violated the terms of use, in order to increase their profits”
