Apple’s first mixed reality head-mounted electronic device will go on sale locally on February 2, US time. Apple has launched the VisionOS App Store (related reports), but Netflix has stated that it will not launch a dedicated app for Apple Vision Pro (related reports) Recently, Bloomberg reported that YouTube and Spotify have also stated that they will follow Netflix’s lead and have no plans to launch Vision Pro-specific apps at this stage.
According to Bloomberg, streaming service provider Netflix has previously stated that it will not launch a dedicated application for VisionOS. Netflix will also prevent users from watching content offline and may even limit the resolution. According to “Bloomberg” reports, both YouTube and Spotfiy stated that they “will not” launch the VisionOS App, and even apparently their iPadOS App cannot run on the Vision Pro.
Nonetheless, this does not mean that users cannot watch Netflix, YouTube programs, or listen to Spotify music on Vision Pro, but users must use the web version. In other words, Vision Pro will be subject to restrictions when using these services. For example, it cannot watch Netflix programs offline, and the user experience may be affected.
Although Netflix took the lead in resisting Apple Vision Pro, its competitor Disney+ stated that it would provide 3D movies such as “Avatar: The Way of Water”, “Avengers: Endgame”, and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” for Vision Pro. It also stated that Users can watch these programs using its VisionOS App without paying extra.
