- Apple reveals more information before the official launch of sales of the Vision Pro
- Repairing a broken headset can cost up to 55,000 crowns
- The selection of accessories is also noteworthy, the cheapest costs 1,400 crowns
A well-known saying goes that “he who buys a monkey must have bananas”. Figuratively speaking, it suits Apple perfectly. Its products are not cheap, and the higher price is also reflected in all kinds of accessories and additional services. And it is no different with the brand new Vision Pro headset, which Apple has started selling in the USA.
Don’t pay for the Vision Pro repair
Last week, the pre-sale of Apple Vision Pro, smart glasses, which by themselves cost 3,499 dollars (97,000 crowns including VAT) started. And we’re only talking about the basic variant with 256GB of storage. Will it be enough? It’s hard to say, no one has much idea yet how the visionOS system will work with storage.
However, you can directly order a higher memory variant on the Apple e-shop. The version with 512GB of storage costs $3,699 (almost 102,000 crowns including VAT) and the 1TB massive version costs $3,899, i.e. almost 110,000 crowns after tax is added. There is no doubt that this is not a product for everyone.
We also know that in addition to the head-mounted headset, the package also includes an upper leather strap, a cover for the front glass part, an external battery, a polishing cloth and a 30W adapter with a USB-C cable. And the price of repairs is also varied, if one of these components is damaged or simply stops working.
Don’t overlook
Are you going to bring Vision Pro to Europe? Be prepared for these limitations
The customer must first pay an additional $499 (about 11,000 crowns) for the Apple Care+ service, otherwise it can be difficult to think about priority care during warranty service. On its website, Apple directly states that repairing the front glass will cost $799 (about 18,000 crowns).
Apple does not explicitly mention any other damage or repair on the website, hiding everything behind the item “other repairs”. These will cost an uninsured customer $2,399 (55,000 crowns), which is more than half of the purchase price of the headset itself.
If you subscribe to AppleCare+, this item will cost you a ridiculous $299 (7 thousand crowns). However, it should be noted that the repair prices apply to the American market. It is not at all clear how and for how much the service will be set up when entering the European market.
A nice, if expected, perk is that Apple Vision Pro customers are entitled to a free battery replacement. “Your product is eligible for a battery replacement at no additional cost if you have AppleCare+ and your product’s battery has less than 80% of its original capacity,” stands on official website.
It follows that every user will definitely take care of their headset like an eye in their head, because the idea of having to pay two-thirds of the original price of the product to repair it is certainly motivation enough.
Accessories – when you don’t know what to do with money
In addition to the price of the device, the offer of accessories and accessories is also interesting. None of the items listed below are included in the package, they are either official Apple accessories or partner manufacturers such as Belkin.
For the price of 199 dollars (about 5.5 thousand crowns), you can buy a secondary battery for the Vision Pro. A fancy travel case with a polycarbonate surface for proper protection is also sold for the same price. “The Apple Vision Pro Travel Case features a retractable handle and specially designed battery compartments, ZEISS optical inserts, Apple Vision Pro cover and other accessories,” it says in the annotation.
When it comes to Zeiss, Apple sells dioptric inserts on its own e-shop that can be used by users with visual impairment. Apple produces them to order in cooperation with a German company, the price is from 99 dollars (2,800 crowns) per pair.
The cheapest accessory – excluding the cable and adapter – is the Belkin battery case, which has its own clip to hold the battery in place. The accessories will only cost 50 dollars, which is about 1,400 crowns including VAT.
