When iPhone 14 and then iOS 16 were presented, which have only been in Spain for a short time, many were happy to see how Apple had implemented the Always-on display, the feature that dims the lock screen to show just the right amount of information. However, users have complained about the lack of options to configure this feature to their liking. This will change in iOS 16.2.

The latest beta of Apple’s operating system for developers shows how Apple will include new controls for the Always on, second advance 9to5Mac. These are intended to ensure that this function of Software it’s more like what Android devices have been offering for years; an extremely easy way to see new notifications at a glance. Obviously only for iPhone 14 Pro; the rest of the models remain, in principle, on the outside.
And is that since its launch, the Always on Apple has generated division, since unlike what we can see on Android, this mode on the iPhone slightly dims the background colors of the padlock, but it still displays its main hues, even showing a ‘watered down’ version of the lock screen wallpaper. Something that many consider a distraction.
improvements for the Always on
Future iOS update will bring options so that when you activate the Always on, the iPhone just show the clock and widgets of the lock screen. The rest of the screen will be completely black, with no background dimming. Colors will still be dimmed, but only in the font that users see on screen. widgets and the weather.
This will have several advantages. The first is that indeed this Always on it’s much less distracting and feels like the phone is locked, which wasn’t the case with the lock screen wallpaper off. Also, on iPhones with AMOLED screens you should get greater energy efficiency when the whole panel is turned off.

Logically, these new options will not replace the “fun and colorful” mentioned by Chance Miller, editor of 9to5Mac, showing the novelty. These options, on the other hand, are welcome since until recently the iOS 16 configuration only allowed turn off or on Always on, without the possibility of modifying it at will.
It should be clarified that the fact that this has appeared in the upcoming iOS 16.2 beta is not a guarantee that it will officially reach the iPhone. And it is that it would not be the first time that Apple has included functions in its betas which, in its official versions, it withdraws for usually unknown reasons.
