Apple updates firmware for AirPods Pro 2, Beats Fit Pro, Beats Studio Buds and Powerbeats Pro

Apple today releases several firmware updates for AirPods Pro 2, Powerbeats Pro, Beats Fit Pro, and Beats Studio Buds. The previous update was released in September.

AirPods Pro 2 firmware changes from 5A377 to 5B58. Of course, everyone is wondering what the changes are. It will be difficult to answer knowing that Apple wants to be very vague: “Bug fixes and other improvements”.

You can check which version is installed. Go to Settings> General> About, scroll down and select your AirPods. The installed firmware version can be found in the “Firmware version” line.

How to update your AirPods? Officially, Apple offers a solution. The download and installation are performed automatically in the background. But there is a technique used by Geniuses in the Apple Store to force the download, here it is for AirPods (Pro):

  • Make sure the AirPods are within Bluetooth range of their iOS, iPadOS, or macOS device
  • Listen to music or other audio with AirPods for at least 30 seconds
  • Put the AirPods back into the charging case and close the lid
  • Connect the charging case to a power source via Lightning
  • Wait 30 minutes and especially do not open the case during this period otherwise you will have to start over from the beginning

For the rest, the Powerbeats Pro firmware goes from 4A394 to 5B55, that of Beats Studio Buds from 10M359 to 10M2155 and that of Beats Fit Pro from 4E64 to 5B55. Again, Apple doesn’t specify what the changes are.
