Apple UP: How We Built a Business on Avito for 4 Years and Lost Everything in an Instant

Good day to all readers. We want to share a real story about how we developed a business on Avito for 4 years and lost everything in an instant – our profile was simply blocked without any intelligible explanation!

Block No. 1. Who are we.

We are engaged in retail and wholesale sales of mobile equipment.

As of February 12, 2024, the profile had more than 2,200 reviews with an overall rating of 5.0 and more than 1,000 completed Avito Deliveries (secure transaction) in the “Mobile Phones” category.

There are 17 employees on staff. Sales department. Customer support department. Service center.

To this day, we have been one of the leaders in sales and customer service in the segment of used and REF devices on Avito in Moscow.

Recently, according to Avito’s personal manager, we have become key clients of this site, which is a prestigious status on Avito.

In December 2023, we were invited to a personal working meeting at the Avito office with Pavel Komarov, head of the “Household Appliances and Electronics” category.

The Avito team was attracted by our history, where we pursued a transparent and honest policy towards the client. I repeat, we had an excellent reputation and customer service, and also created a manual and checklist for checking the seller and phone number when purchasing on Avito, so that the Avito user would not be deceived.

In other words, we tried and worked so that in our trinity, where Avito, the Client and We flourished in the format – WIN-WIN-WIN.

Satisfied client. Happy with Avito. We are happy too.

The Avito rules do not have clear regulations and rules on what is cheating a review and what is not.

At the same time, it is obvious to us that writing reviews without the transaction itself is a pure violation. Which we 100% didn’t do.

But asking to leave a review if you liked everything – is this really a violation?

We meet the client, check the phone with him, select a case for it and glue the glass, in a comfortable, bright office in the center of Moscow. We give him emotions with the “Wheel of Fortune”, where the client can receive from us an additional useful gift for his phone and leaves absolutely happy!

Yes, we place great emphasis on the client’s comfort and emotions so that he is satisfied with everything! But is that bad? Isn’t that what all big and good companies strive for?

The “request feedback” function in the Avito chat works on exactly the same principle.

Is this also a violation?

Yes, we used all this and had no idea that it somehow affected the perception algorithms for boosting reviews.

⚠ Block No. 3. What we have.

❗At the time of blocking, there were about 20-25 phone orders worth more than 1,000,000 ₽ in Avito Delivery work!

That is, we sent the phones at our own expense, with the expectation that we would receive them after the client received them.

❗Avito’s wallet had about 80,000-100,000₽!

❗Advertising promotion for a day was active in the amount of 30000-35000₽!

‼The total amount of funds that we have hanging on Avito at the moment is in the region of 1,200,000-1,300,000 rubles.

And the saddest thing is that, apart from the notification about blocking the profile, Avito did not notify about anything. It’s like they don’t care about us.

What will happen to orders now? Will the customer receive his order? Who will now be responsible for the service? What about our funds? What to do next now? Just nothing! We feel like an abandoned kitten who is lost and does not understand what to do.

⚠ Isn’t this a bell that the seller on Avito is not protected in any way and can lose everything in an instant?! Is it worth considering building a business on the Avito site on a long-term basis or are there still big risks of losing everything?

For us, the question remains open for now.

Every seller on Avito could be in our place and this needs to be understood.

We love the Avito service. We love our clients from Avito all over Russia! And we do everything possible to make all parties happy.

We also accept all the terms and conditions of working on Avito and do not intend to violate them. And it would be great if you gave feedback on what is possible and what is not allowed during the activity itself and warned about violations that the seller may not be aware of. Especially when it is a key client like us.

We believe that many sellers on Avito would support this idea.
