Apple Unveils New iMac with M4 Chip: Enhanced Features, AI Integration, and Vibrant Color Options

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Apple announced the latest iMac powered by the M4 chip. The price is set from US$1,299 (Rp. 20 million) and can be ordered before the official release on November 8 in the United States (US).

Mac models are still a major contributor to Apple’s business, even if they are not as big as the iPhone. In the quarter ending last June, Apple announced that Mac sales reached US $ 7 billion or an increase of 2% year on year (yoy).

In addition, Apple’s latest Apple Intelligence capabilities are more widely available on Mac models than iPhones.

The reason is, only iPhones released in the last 2 years will experience this artificial intelligence feature. Meanwhile for Macs, everyone powered by the 2020 M1 chip and newer can run Apple Intelligence.

Apple Intelligence allows users to easily paraphrase, verify or summarize text with the help of AI.

This feature allows users to interact with the Siri smart assistant in a more intuitive way, like talking to a friend.

Apple plans to release an improved version of Apple Intelligence in December, adding ChatGPT support from OpenAI for writing tools and Siri.

Returning to the iMac M4, this time Apple is providing a ‘newer’ color variant with green, yellow, orange, pink and purple options. There is also a standard silver color option.

They are all supported by a USBC port on the back, and are equipped with the more capable Thunderbolt 4 standard. This means that users can send videos and large files faster.

The device also supports up to 2 additional 6k resolution screens. There are also updates to the Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard, as well as charging using USB-C to replace Lightning.

The screen is the same 24-inch with Retina 4.5 display, as before. However, now the screen gets a nano texture option to prevent reflections and glare.

It is known that Apple first introduced the M4 chip when it launched the iPad Pro last May. At that time, Apple said that the chip already had AI capabilities, a better GPU, and used a TSMC chip with a 3nm manufacturing process.

Apple says the M4 uses more power than the M2 released in 2022.

In the future, Apple is said to introduce more Mac products. It is not yet clear when these products will be available in Indonesia.
