Apple Unveils MagSafe Battery Pack for iPhone 12 Series

Apple has released the MagSafe Battery Pack for the iPhone 12. The device magnetically clicks onto the back of your iPhone and provides a longer battery life.

Read on after the ad.

MagSafe Battery Pack now available for iPhone 12

The MagSafe Battery Pack can be ordered immediately for the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro on iPhone 12 Pro Max. You pay 109 euros for it. Magnets hold the device in place. The MagSafe Battery Pack has a fairly low capacity of 1460 mAh. That means that you can only charge an iPhone 12 for just over half. You even get an iPhone 12 Pro Max for only 40 percent full.

Brought in the past Apple often special covers with a built-in battery. Thanks to MagSafe that is no longer necessary. This Battery Pack is therefore only available in one version. When you click it on the iPhone 12 mini, it does look comically large in relation to the phone itself.

A big advantage of the MagSafe Battery Pack is that you can (probably) also use it with your next iPhone. Battery cases are usually worthless immediately when you switch to a new phone.

The price of the device is high. In fact, the MagSafe Battery Pack is nothing but a power bank that allows you to charge your smartphone wirelessly. There are more of these, which also often have a much higher capacity. The only advantage of Apple’s solution is that it snaps magnetically to your iPhone.

MagSafe Battery Pack charges iPhone slowly

If you want to use the MagSafe Battery Pack to quickly provide your iPhone 12 with fresh battery juice, you’ll be disappointed. You charge with only 5 Watts. That’s very slow. The accessory therefore seems primarily intended to be left on your iPhone continuously.

You can charge the MagSafe Battery Pack yourself via a Lightning cable. Depending on the adapter, this works with a maximum of 20 Watts. It is also possible to charge the iPhone and Battery Pack at the same time.

To use the Battery Pack, your iPhone must be at least iOS 14.7 to turn. Apple has not officially released that software version yet. We expect the release next week at the latest, as the first customers will then receive their MagSafe Battery Pack.
