Apple on Monday introduced a new generation of iPhones, in which artificial intelligence will play an important role in the operating system.
The new iPhone 16 series will be powered by a new chip, the A18 Bionic chip, which Apple says is 30 percent faster than the previous one.
CEO Tim Cook said in his presentation that the new iPhones will be the first “designed from the ground up for Apple Intelligence and its breakthrough capabilities.”
These AI tools include an improved camera experience, an enhanced Siri voice assistant, and a range of text generation and photo editing capabilities.
Apple also launched new AirPods with features including a better fit and voice isolation that filters out background noise from the environment.
This next-generation AirPods, powered by Apple’s H2 chip, will retail for $129. The AirPods with active noise cancellation will cost $179.
Apple shares were down 1.4 percent on Monday night. The stock was down 0.2 percent before the event.
