Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Apple has finally launched its first VR/AR headset called ‘Vision Pro’ at WWDC 2023. One of the advantages of this headset is its ability to bring all the features on the iPhone to the user’s eyes.
In fact, users can make commands with hand gestures, eyes and voice. Users can play games, watch movies, make video calls, and access various productivity applications easily and practically.
So, the question arises ‘will Vision Pro bring about the iPhone apocalypse’?
Apple CEO Tim Cook said that this device is the determinant of the future. In his keynote, Cook indicated that Vision Pro was able to provide a different experience like never before.
“Mac brings personal computing innovation and iPhone brings mobile computing innovation. Apple Vision Pro will bring spatial computing innovation,” he said, quoted from Mint, Wednesday (7/6/2023).
Furthermore, Cook explained that the experience with Vision Pro will bring many opportunities for its users.
Apple took years to present the iPhone which became the forerunner to the birth of smartphones. Nowadays, smartphones seem to be mandatory gadgets for modern humans.
It is not impossible that people’s habits towards smartphones will be repeated with Vision Pro. Cook claims the Vision Pro “heralds a new era of computing”.
However, he did not specify further whether this technology will replace the role of the iPhone.
On a different occasion, the inventor of the cellular phone Martin Cooper has said that the future smartphone replacement will be a chip that is directly attached to the human body.
Humans no longer need to carry devices everywhere, because smartphones are embedded in the body. He predicts this mechanism will be present around 2030 or 7 years from now.
You could say the presence of Vision Pro is one of the transitional technologies to get there. This device is still too bulky to replace a mobile smartphone.
However, in terms of the technology offered and the user experience, you could say this technology will give birth to future smartphone innovations. Let’s wait.
