On May 18, Apple made an announcement that its Pro applications, Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro, will be launched for iPads on May 23. It is a long-awaited move that will create greater opportunities and flexibility for mobile movie and music production. Along with this, Apple unveiled this year’s Pride Edition Sport Band for its Apple Watch.
Every year, just before Pride Month, Apple releases a new watch band that inspires the LGBTQ+ community. In recent years, there has also been a matching watch face to complement the band’s design. This year’s band features a distinctive design and a manufacturing process that ensures no two bands are identical.
Apple integrated the five original Pride flag colors, and to recognize more communities, added black and brown to represent Black and Latin communities. There is also the blue, pink, and white colors that signify transgender and non-binary individuals. The color combination ensures that the band is a symbol of diversity and inclusivity that supports a broad spectrum of communities within Pride.
The Pride Edition Sport Band will be available to purchase directly from Apple.com starting May 23, and it will be available in both Apple Watch sizes, that are 41mm and 45mm respectively. The band will cost $49 and will be available in stores from May 24.
The watch face and the matching iPhone wallpaper will be available with the launch of iOS 16.5, which is expected to happen next week. However, to download the new Pride watch face, customers don’t need to buy the Pride Edition band. They can find the watch face on the Apple website and download it directly to their Apple Watch. They will require WatchOS 9.5, which will also launch next week.
The publication Press Release also showcases a few images to appreciate the Pride Edition Sport Band’s beauty, and Apple’s social media handles’ recent posts have shown examples of how the band looks on an actual watch. Notably, like every year, the company will donate a portion of the sales proceeds to LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations.
It is not only a simple pride edition band for the Apple Watch but a way to make a strong statement in support of the LGBTQ+ community. Therefore, Apple has been consistently showing active support for the LGBTQ+ community by launching Pride-themed products and participating in Pride events. With each release, the company aims to spread solidarity and love, particularly in places where members of this community face prejudice or are not given equal rights. Therefore, with the release of the Pride Edition band, Apple aims to create a broader platform for inclusivity for everyone.
