Apple TV Can Now Use VPN, Here’s How!

QURAN GALA – Recently, Apple TV was rumored to be able to use Virtual Private Network (VPN) software, as The Verge reported this week.

One of the main uses of a VPN is to watch regionally locked content, and Apple TV, that’s changing with the help of one of the biggest names in VPN, ExpressVPN, which has released its app for tvOS.

ExpressVPN allows Apple TV users to connect to any of the 105 countries around the world available servers, so they can watch shows and movies and know that the IP address reported to an outside server is not theirs.

To download it, users must ensure they are using tvOS 17, previous versions do not support native VPN apps at all.

Users of the online forum Reddit reported discovering the app last week. Most said they could “switch countries” to get around regional restrictions although some experienced problems logging in or getting it to work with certain additional apps.

ExpressVPN says that new features will be available to beta testers. Meanwhile another VPN company, NordVPN, said that they are ready and planning to release an Apple TV app in the near future, an encouraging sign for Apple devices.

PureVPN and other smaller names have also recently released VPN apps for the platform.

While a VPN is a great thing to have, keep in mind that using a VPN on an internet connection can slow down speeds. If users already have slow internet, streaming with VPN enabled may result in poor video or audio quality.

ExpressVPN also announced it has updated its Android TV app, which now has QR code login, dark mode, and customizations to make it easier to change server locations.***
