Apple to unveil a MacBook Air with M2 chip and iMac-style colors in 2022

Apple is currently working on a new MacBook Air. Completely revised, this new laptop would be powered by the Apple M2 chip (instead of the future M1X chip of the MacBook Pro). It would also be distinguished by a host of colors similar to those of the iMac 2021.

The MacBook Air M2, one of Apple’s next laptops, continues to be talked about. Over the past few months, we’ve learned that the MacBook Air is going to get a new design. Inspired by the iPhone 12s, Apple would bet on flat edges, reminiscent of older iPhones, instead of the thin, tapered edges found on MacBook Airs on the market.

According to information shared by leaker Dylandkt on Twitter, Apple will offer new colors on this MacBook Air. The brand would apply the iMac recipe by declining the computer in several pastel colors. Informant Jon Prosser expects the following colors: green, blue, pink purple, orange and yellow.

The future MacBook Air would be powered by the next generation of ARM chips designed by Apple Silicon: M2. This processor, whose production has not yet started, would be reserved for MacBook Air and the most popular devices in Apple’s catalog.

On Macs stamped “Pro”, the Mountain View giant would rather rely on the M1X chipsets. Direct successor of the SoC M1 which powers the iMac, iPad Pro and MacBook, this processor has already entered production. Apple would rely on a new 5nm engraving technology, TSMC’s N5P process, to reduce component energy consumption. We can expect the chipset to make its appearance sometime in the fall.

For its part, the MacBook Air with M2 chip would not be delayed until the first semester of next year. In view of Apple’s calendar habits, we can expect the new MacBook Air to be announced around March during a keynote. We tell you more as soon as possible about the brand’s next computers.
