Apple to Release iOS 17 and watchOS 10 Next Week

A new version of Apple’s iPhone and Apple Watch operating system (OS) will be officially released next week.

On the 12th (local time), Apple unveiled four new products, including the iPhone 15, Apple Watch Series 9, and Apple Watch Ultra 2, along with the timing of updates on the product information page.

According to this, iOS 17 and watchOS 10 will be officially released in the early morning of the 19th (18th in U.S. local time). Peripheral operating systems such as tvOS 17 for Apple TV and HomePod software 17 will also be released on the same day.

Along with the iPhone 15 launch event, Apple has already distributed ‘Release Candidate’ (RC) versions, which are the pre-release versions of each operating system, including iOS17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10, and tvOS 17, to developers.

iOS17 is officially supported for devices released after the iPhone XS/XR (2018). WatchOS 10 is supported starting from Apple Watch Series 4 (2018) and later, and requires an iPhone with iOS 17 installed.

For both products, you can install the latest operating system from ‘Software Update’ in the ‘Settings’ app, and the cost is free. Important data contained in the device needs to be backed up through the cloud before updating.

The release date of operating systems for other devices, such as macOS Sonoma (14.0) and iPad OS 17, has not been determined.
