Jakarta, CNBC IndonesiaApple speeding produces Vision Pro virtual glasses products. The device with virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technology is expected to launch in February 2024.

The news about the launch target for Apple Vision Pro glasses was reported by Bloomberg, quoted by Reuters on Thursday (21/12/2023).

Apple’s factory in China is said to have produced the Vision Pro at full capacity in recent weeks. The goal is that Vision Pro products will be ready to be sent to customers by the end of January followed by retail sales in February.

Apple set a price of US$ 3,499 (Rp. 54 million) for the Vision Pro when it was first exhibited in June. At that time, Apple only stated that the Vision Pro would be available in the United States market in early 2024.

The iPhone and MacBook manufacturing company is known to have sent an email to software developers on Wednesday (20/12/2023) to remind them to prepare to test Vision Pro. Developers are asked to test their applications with the latest version of the device and then send the data to Apple.

In July, Apple was reportedly forced to cut its Vision Pro production volume target because the design was too complex.

Glasses Rp. 54 million

Apple introduced the Vision Pro at the WWDC event in mid-2023. Here are some facts about the Vision Pro, whose price exceeds IDR 54 million:

1. Operating System & Interface

Apple presents a new operating system for Vision Pro. Named visionOS, this system is said to support low latency in spatial computing.

visionOS brings a three-dimensional interface. Users can control the device with eye movements, hands and the user’s voice.

For example, you can search for applications by looking and blinking. Users can also click on things with finger gestures. If you want to command something, just use your voice. Meanwhile, flicking your wrist can be used to scroll something.

2. Eyesight

Apple ensures Vision Pro users are not completely separated from the real world. Device visualization is made transparent with Eyesight. So, when trying out the device and someone in the real world approaches, the user can detect it.

Eyesight will also tell others what the user is focusing on through visual signals.

3. Design

The Vision Pro uses a number of technologies in its design. For example, a piece of glass that is three-dimensionally formed and laminated.

This innovation will make optical surfaces into lenses for a number of cameras and sensors. As a result, users can combine the physical world with digital content.

Meanwhile, the seals are made of soft textile and come in various shapes, sizes and textures. So, it can adjust to the user’s face.

The strap is also made flexible so that the audio remains close to the user’s ear. Head Bands come in a variety of sizes and are woven three-dimensionally as one piece. There are also pads that make it easier for users to breathe.

4. Hardware

Apple uses micro-OLED technology with 23 million pixels into two screens on this new device. Apart from that, there are also special catadioptric lenses that make colors sharper and clearer. The Vision Pro also has custom optical inserts from Zeiss.

In terms of audio, the Vision Pro is equipped with two drivers that are individually amplified in each audio pod. By utilizing the geometry of the user’s head and ears, the device will deliver personalized spatial audio (Personalized Spatial Audio).

Meanwhile, Apple has also embedded a high-speed camera and a series of LEDs. So Vision Pro will project visible light patterns for responsive and intuitive input.

Vision Pro performance uses dual chips, namely M2 and R1. The final chip will process input from 12 cameras, 5 sensors and six microphones at once, so that content can be felt directly in front of the user’s eyes. R1 presents images in 12 milliseconds or 8 times faster.

In terms of battery, the Vision Pro can be used all day long when plugged in. Meanwhile, with an external battery it can be used for two hours.

5. Security

Apple brings Optical ID authentication system to unlock Vision pro. This system will analyze the user’s iris under exposure to LED light and compare it with the Optical ID registered and protected by Secure Enclave.

Apple also ensures that Optical ID data is fully encrypted and cannot be accessed by applications. This includes never leaving the device or being stored on Apple servers.

6. Price

Apple sells its glasses at fantastic prices starting from US$3,499 (Rp. 52 million).
