Apple is currently testing an iPhone 13 model that has Touch ID under the display. According to Bloomberg, Touch ID under the screen is there in addition to Face ID. The user could thus choose one or the other according to his desire.
iPhone 13 with Touch ID under the screen
It is certain that Touch ID under the screen would be useful during this Covid-19 pandemic. The use of Face ID can be restrictive during this period because of the masks. Conversely, the fingerprint sensor does not pose any particular problem.
Beyond Touch ID, the iPhone 13 would offer minor changes compared to the iPhone 12. We could almost speak of an “iPhone 12s”. But it seems unlikely that Apple would choose this name.
On the other hand, Apple would consider removing the Lightning port on the iPhone 13. The manufacturer wants to focus on wireless charging thanks to MagSafe. But it’s good to note that it would still be in the draft stage for now. Apple could finally postpone the idea until 2022.
Foldable iPhone in preparation
Speaking of the future, Bloomberg says Apple has developed a folding screen prototype (with Samsung) for a future iPhone. The prototype would include an “almost invisible” hinge below the screen. But there is only the screen for now, everything else still needs to be developed so that the iPhone and the components can also be compatible with the foldable side.
The site concludes by reaffirming that the AirTags will arrive in 2021, just like the iPad Pro with a Mini-LED screen.
