Apple Targets Production of 220 Million iPhones by 2022

Apple is reportedly keeping the iPhone production target of 220 million units.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Apple reportedly maintains its production target iPhone 220 million units by 2022. Despite the supply chain constraints Apple is facing, the production target remains largely unchanged from the previous year, according to the report. Bloomberg as quoted from MacRumorsThursday (26/5/2022).

Apple has reportedly informed its suppliers that they still want to meet their target of producing iPhones of up to 220 million units. Mostly driven by model iPhone 14 a new one that was expected to be released in the fall although it’s now reported development is being pushed back due to suppliers Apple in China facing a lockdown.

Some Apple analysts expect the production target to reach 240 million units. But this prediction seems a bit difficult to achieve given the mobile industry has had a difficult start to the year and production forecasts fell overall.

For Apple, the existing target has not changed from 2021, although Apple had difficulty meeting demand for existing products. Some products, including the latest Macs, should have high demand and not be hampered if there were no COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions.

The fourth quarter of 2022 is a moment for Apple which is expected to give a positive performance considering the planned release of the latest iPhone series, the iPhone 14. The phone is expected to bring more updates than the previous generation, namely the iPhone 13.

The updates that are expected to come from the camera, screen, screen design, to the sophistication of the chipset.
