Apple unveiled the SharePlay feature last June during WWDC when it unveiled iOS 15 (iPadOS 15, tvOS 15, and macOS 12 Monterey). It was offered to all users with the final version of iOS 15.1. Now Apple speak applications that support the functionality.
Several applications support SharePlay
SharePlay, a powerful set of features for shared experiences during a FaceTime call, has introduced new ways for Apple users to stay connected. With SharePlay support in Apple TV +, Apple Music, and Apple Fitness +, as well as many popular apps like NBA, TikTok, Twitch, Paramount +, and SHOWTIME, users can watch movies and TV shows, listen to music or workout together with friends on a FaceTime call.
Apple ensures that SharePlay syncs all of these activities for everyone on FaceTime. So users are in control, so anyone can start, pause, or skip forward, while ensuring that sync is in place so that everyone on the call is on the same level.
Besides, the SharePlay functionality extends to Apple TV so that users can watch on the big screen while using FaceTime on iPhone or iPad. With support for screen sharing, users can also browse the web together, view photos, or show their friends something in a favorite app. SharePlay is available with the final release of iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, and tvOS 15.1. The feature will arrive on Mac later this fall.
