Apple sued to stop iPhone production and sales in China

IDXChannel – The original Artificial Intelligence (AI) company China, Shanghai Zhizhen Intelligent Network Technology demands that Apple stop production and sales iPhone of China.

Shanghai Zhizhen Intelligent Network Technology otherwise known as Xiao-i Robot. They accused Siri of infringing on his patents, the South China Morning Post reported.

Apparently, Xiao-i Robot and Apple have been in a patent dispute over the Siri virtual assistant for years.
Last year Xiao-i Robot sued Apple for US$1.4 billion after claiming Siri infringed on their virtual assistant patent.

At the time, the company had asked Apple to stop producing, using, and promising to sell all products that “infringed” its patents covering all devices with Siri‌.

In the latest escalation of its lawsuit, Xiao-i-Robot has asked a court in Shanghai to force Apple to stop manufacturing and selling iPhones.

The AI company announced the initial demands via its WeChat account.

Xiao-i Robot Chief Executive Yuan Hui said in a statement that Apple does not respect the company’s intellectual property.

“Apple must immediately stop the infringement, remove and stop the sale of the related product,” Yuan said, quoted from Macrumors, Friday (10/9/2021).

If the court grants Xiao-i-Robot’s order, it will certainly have a significant impact on Apple’s supply chain.

While the decision is unlikely to directly affect the launch of the iPhone 13‌ this month, it could affect future iPhone launches.

Apple in a statement to the South China Morning Post reiterated that Siri‌ does not “contain features included in their patent, which relate to games and instant messaging”.

Apple notes that local Chinese certification has concluded that Apple is not violating Xiao-i-robot technology. (RAMA)
