Apple is making a complete U-turn. The company will soon start selling spare parts, tools and manuals for those who want to repair their broken mobile phones and computers.
After a long time waged a war against unauthorized repair companies makes Apple seem like a complete reversal. During Wednesday announced the company that it will start selling spare parts, tools and manuals to consumers.
Starting in early 2022, American Apple customers will be able to buy repair accessories for Iphone 12 and Iphone 13. These include materials needed to change the screen, battery and camera.
Then the plan is to expand the range of spare parts for Mac computers with M1 chips. Apple also promises to open an online store for spare parts in more countries by 2022.
Only for Iphone 12 and Iphone 13, there will be a range of over 200 tools and spare parts. Everything needed to perform the most common repairs, according to Apple.
Carrying out the repairs yourself with Apple’s own spare parts should not affect the warranty, according to Techcrunch. The site also writes that Apple will offer discounts to customers who return their broken components so that they can be recycled.
