Apple So What The Hate Of 30 Years Ago

Jakarta

Apple and Epic Game are unlikely to reach a point of peace yet. The war of comments has intensified the feud between the two sides

Epic Game CEO Tim Sweeney recently replied to Apple’s statement about compensation for breach of contract on his Twitter account. He said that if Apple thought the App Store distribution dispute and the payments monopoly were “just a cash dispute,” then the company led by Tim Cook had lost all sight of the tech industry’s fundamental principles.

Sweeney went on to say that Apple had done an excessive expansion by controlling consumer devices. Though all users should be able to install software freely, and all developers can create and share applications as they wish.

The Epic Game boss then mentioned the Epic ‘Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite’ advert. He explained that this ad was designed to show that Apple is now replacing IBM as the “almighty” company they feared 30 years ago and “is using this position to exercise control and squeeze money out.” The one-minute video does show the sarcasm of a 1984 video ad that Apple made about IBM’s monopoly in the computer market.

Sweeney reiterated several reasons Epic Games opposed Apple’s policy App Store, it is more about fighting for the interests of the creator. He stressed that this disagreement was not about money, yet Epic did not ask for monetary compensation. “This is a more fundamental struggle for change,” he stressed.

Currently, Epic Games’ developer account with Apple has been terminated. They have gone to court to permit Fortnite to return to the App Store and restore access to its developer account.

At the same time, Epic Games also refuses to remove direct payment options, but this violates Apple’s App Store policies. The preliminary hearing will be held later this month.
