According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Apple brand could finally abandon its Lightning port in favor of the much more widespread USB-C.
The arrival of USB-C could not only make everyday life easier for users, but would improve charging and transfer speeds. This would also allow the Californian company to comply with the recommendations of the European Commission, which wishes to require the presence of a USB-C port on all devices.
Apple should also not stop there. Still according to Ming-Chi Kuo, other products, such as AirPods, Magic Keyboard, Magic TrackPad, Magic Mouse or even MagSafe batteries could also switch to USB-C in the near future.
As for the likelihood of seeing an iPhone without a port, as some rumors have it, that doesn’t seem realistic at the moment. As Kuo points out, wireless technology is still limited, and the MagSafe ecosystem set up by Apple a few years ago is not “mature” enough.
Remember that the apple brand has already switched to USB-C on some of its products, including the iPad.
