Apple seeded the second beta of the upcoming tvOS 15 update for developers today for testing purposes, and the new beta will arrive just over two weeks after Apple released the first beta.
Developers can download the new beta version of tvOS 15 by downloading a profile on Apple TV using Xcode.
Apple shared little about tvOS 15 during its main event, but there are some new features that are coming to the operating system. SharePlay, a FaceTime feature that allows multiple users to watch TV shows or movies together, will be integrated with tvOS, and there is a new ‘Everyone’ recommendation engine that suggests shows that everyone can enjoy.
A Shared With You section also shows movies and shows that were shared with you through the Messages app so you remember to watch them. When paired with AirPods Pro or AirPods Max, the Apple TV supports spatial audio for a theater-like surround sound experience, and there’s a new feature to automatically connect your AirPods via Smart AirPods routing.
Two HomePod mini speakers can be paired with the Apple TV 4K for stereo sound, and if you have HomeKit cameras, you can view multiple cameras at the same time on the Apple TV.
tvOS 15 is limited to developers at this time, but Apple will provide a public beta of the software to public beta testers starting in July.
