Harianjogja.com, JAKARTA – Apple has secretly developed virtual reality (VR) glasses with 12 cameras to track movement and eye tracking technology.
Launching Business Insider on Friday (5/2/2021) the prototype of the glasses has been made and is known to have a curved shield with a mesh material and a replaceable headband.
People with knowledge of the project told the publication that the headset is equipped with a high-quality 8K screen, Lidar technology, and is codenamed N301. Apple will use its own chip for the device.
The cameras mounted on the VR glasses allow the user to communicate with the viewer’s eye and hand movements. Apple is also working on a device that users can wear on their finger to control that device.
Bloomberg reported in late January that Apple’s first VR headset could ship as early as 2022.
A source also told The Information that the device could indeed be available as early as next year, and the company could ship about 250,000 units in its first year of release.
The Lidar technology that is said to run on a headset is also present in the company’s iPhone 12 Pro. Headsets, as previously reported, could also predate a pair of smart glasses that could debut in 2023, according to the report.
The VR glasses developed by Apple are likely to be priced at around US $ 3,000. That price is quite expensive considering similar devices on the market, which usually sell for between US $ 300-US $ 1,000.
