JAKARTA
Despite getting a lawsuit from Epic Games, Apple still insists on not allowing apps outside of the App Store or Sideloading to be loaded onto the iPhone. Apple argues that sideloading applications can make iPhone users’ security vulnerable to viruses and ransomware.

Reported BBC News, Thursday (24/6/2021), a new report by Apple is again against sideloading apps. The report points to various hypothetical problems including ransomware and financial fraud.

As known, Apple is under pressure from regulators and some developers over its App Store.

Tim Sweeney, head of Epic Games and vocal critic of Apple, called the reports a lie.

Meanwhile, Marco Arment, the developer behind popular apps Overcast and Instapaper, has previously said he is against sideloading on iOS. But now Arment reacted otherwise to Apple’s report.

He wrote that “the best thing that can be done Apple to protect the safety and security of iOS which has been so vociferously sideloaded by lifting the most anti-competitive in-app purchase rule.”
