Apple Rumored to Launch iPhone 15 Series at September 2023 Apple Event

KOMPAS.com – Apple is rumored to be launching the iPhone 15 series at the Apple Event on September 12 2023. The device is said to come with four models consisting of the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max (iPhone 15 Ultra).

Of all the ranks, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is predicted to be the most expensive model. This is because the specifications for the iPhone 15 Pro Max are the most qualified compared to other models. Even though it is the most expensive, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is predicted to be the best-selling model compared to its “brother”.

This prediction was revealed by well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo projects that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will contribute 35-40 percent of all iPhone 15 series sales. That is, this device is predicted to sell well compared to other models.

“iPhone 15 Pro Max, the most expensive iPhone device, will contribute 35-40 percent of sales of the iPhone 15 series and become the highest sales,” said Kuo in a blog Medium personal.

Kuo also predicts that iPhone 15 Pro Max shipments will grow 10-20 percent in the second half of 2024 on a year over year (YoY) basis. This estimate is higher than the shipment of the iPhone 14 Pro Max in the same period.

According to Kuo, the strong shipments of the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max are due to the periscope camera feature which reportedly will only be embedded in this model. That said, the periscope lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max will support optical zoom up to 6x, while the optical zoom on the iPhone 15 Pro is only stuck at 3x, like the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Actually, the periscope camera feature is nothing new. Several Android phone vendors have already embedded this feature, such as Huawei and Oppo. However, at Apple, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be the first model to adopt this technology, if these rumors are true.

On smartphones, periscope lenses rely on prisms that reflect light to various internal lenses at an angle of 90 degrees, directly onto the camera sensor. As a result, the lens size becomes longer than telefofo, making optical zoom results more optimal.

The presence of this periscope lens will reportedly be the answer to requests from “Apple Fanboys”, the nickname for fans of Apple products, especially those who pursue mobile photography.

Will the price of the iPhone 15 series be more expensive?

Several reports reveal that the latest iPhone line will be sold at a higher price than the iPhone 14 series. The iPhone 15 series is forecast to increase from US$100 to US$200 (Rp. 1.5 million – Rp. 3.04 million) for each model.

Meanwhile, the appearance of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will reportedly be the same as the “Pro” version of the iPhone 14. Because, it is said that the non-pro iPhone 15 will also be equipped with Dynamic Island, an exclusive feature that was previously only present on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The iPhone 15 series is also predicted to be the first generation of iPhones to “abandon” the Lightning port to become a USB-C port for charging and data transfer, as quoted by KompasTekno from Mobile Syrup, Thursday (31/8/2023).
