KOMPAS.com – Technology companies from the United States, Apple Inc. continues to move forward with plans to produce electric car itself in 2024.
According to Reuters, the effort known as Project Titan has been running since 2014, when they first started designing their vehicles.
An Apple veteran, who had worked at Tesla Inc., Doug Field returned in 2018 to oversee the project.
According to two sources who requested anonymity, Apple’s rapid development has prompted the company to try to build vehicles for consumers.
Apple’s goal of building private vehicles for the mass market stands in stark contrast to rivals, such as Alphabet Inc.’s Waymo, which have built robo-taxis to transport passengers on driverless services.
At the heart of Apple’s strategy is a new battery design that could “radically” reduce battery costs and increase vehicle range.

This plan makes Apple face new challenges in terms of supply chain.
Despite being a manufacturer iPhone it makes hundreds of millions of electronic products every year with parts from all over the world, but they never make cars.
Even, Elon Musk It took 17 years before finally releasing the Tesla car, which can provide sustainable benefits.
“If there’s one company on the planet that has the resources to do it, it’s probably Apple.”
“But at the same time, it’s not a cell phone,” someone who worked on Project Titan told Reuters.
It’s still unclear who will assemble the Apple-branded car.
However, sources said they hope the company will rely on manufacturing partners to make vehicles.
In addition, it is possible that Apple will reduce the scope of its efforts by becoming an autonomous drive system that will integrate with cars made by traditional car manufacturers, instead of selling Apple-branded cars.

In this project, Apple may also take advantage of outside partners for system elements, including the lidar sensor, which allows the car to get a three-dimensional view of the road.
Concept car self-driving or without the driver it may feature multiple lidar sensors to scan different distances.
Some of the sensors can be derived from Apple’s in-house lidar unit. What’s more, the Apple iPhone 12 Pro and iPad Pro models released this year feature a lidar sensor.
Until this news was written, Apple refused to comment on this plan or about future products.
However, two people familiar with Apple’s plans warned that delays related to the Covid-19 pandemic could lead to new production starting in 2025 or later.
