Apple restricts coronavirus apps in the App Store | NOW

Apple has tightened the rules for apps with the corona virus as its subject, it reports company Saturday in a message to developers. For example, games about the virus are no longer allowed.

By more rigorously monitoring these types of apps, Apple is seeking to maintain the credibility of health and safety information in the App Store. “We are trying to ensure that the data comes from reliable sources,” the company writes. “Developers who release apps about the virus must be recognized by government agencies or medical institutions, for example.”

Apple says it will prioritize such apps in its assessment for access to the App Store.

Games that revolve entirely around the corona virus are no longer allowed in the App Store at all. This also applies to other entertainment apps that take the virus as an approach.

Apple’s app store currently contains various apps about the corona virus. For example, these apps show on a map where infections have been reported or explain how to wash your hands.
