Long awaited, Apple AirTags seem to be closer than ever to a release, this time with information on their price. And like most Apple products, it won’t come cheap. We’re talking about $ 49 per unit and even a supplement for the storage case. Not to mention the battery to be changed every two years.
A high price for Apple AirTags
It is the LeaksApplePro account that tells us that AirTags will be sold at price of 49 dollars unity. And if you want the storage case, count an extra $ 20. In euros, the prices should be similar, as was the case for the HomePod mini which is sold for $ 99 and € 99. We also say that an AirTag with case would be practically as expensive as a small speaker of the brand.
For comparison, these assumed prices are much higher than those of the competition. Tile, the market leader, sells four for 70 euros. And the Pro version is sold for 35 euros each.
AirTags will be expensive.

Plus the cost to charge them.

AirTags will be released in 2021
To justify this price, Apple will offer new features as well as better performance, in particular thanks to the U1 ultra-wide frequency band chip that is also found on the Apple Watch, the iPhone and the HomePod mini. It allows finer localization and more natural interactions, while consuming very little energy.
Once in nature, in your bag, on your keys or in any other valuable object, AirTags can be precisely located thanks to the fleet of iPhones in circulation which will establish a secure mesh network to bounce information back to to your iPhone and the Locate app which should allow you to track your objects and find them in augmented reality. We can certainly configure alerts when objects leave an area.
The AirTags trackers should be presented by Apple in 2021, probably next March. Who is interested in this new product?
