This technology allows iPhone devices to be used for typing in the rain
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Apple has just received a new patent for a technology that allows iPhone devices to be used for typing in the rain more optimally. The patent was issued by the US Patent and Trademark Office which says the technology can modify the functionality of electronic devices due to exposure to moisture.
Quoting Phone Arena, Tuesday (5/7/2022), there are already many cellphones that have waterproof certification, but that doesn’t mean it makes it easy to type on a wet screen or with wet fingers. With the new patent, Apple plans to adapt iPhone screen with humidity whether it is light rain, persistent drenching, or if the handset is used underwater.
The on-screen controls can change according to the user-selected button so that typing can be more accurate when the screen is wet. Apple also seems to be adjusting finger pressure to the screen in the scheme of use in the rain.
Not only when it rains, later this technology will also allow better use of the phone in water. Later, Apple will provide information on the depth of water where the device is located so that users can continue to adjust usage according to the device’s water resistance limit.
Maybe this patent is more suitable for phones that don’t really have a wide screen so that their use is easier and doesn’t confuse users. It’s not certain whether this technology will appear in Apple’s latest devices in the near future or not.
