Apple ranks second in smartphone delivery period in July-September 2021

Jakarta, Selular.ID – Canalys, has just reported smartphone shipments in the third quarter (Q3) globally recently. And recorded Apple occupying the second position, under Samsung.

According to the Canalys report, 325.5 million units were shipped in the July-September period, and that figure decreased by 6 percent, compared to the same time last year. The big reason behind the drop in shipments is none other than the ongoing global shortage of chipsets.

Then Canalys noted that Samsung managed to ship a total of 69.4 million phones outpacing all other smartphone vendors even though the figure was 13% lower than its performance from last year.

Then Apple managed to ship 49.2 million units which is a 14% increase on an annual basis driven by strong demand for the iPhone 13 series and the continued momentum of the iPhone 12 generation.

Meanwhile, in the next position, there is Xiaomi, which completes the top three with 44 million units. Oppo 36.7 million and vivo 34.2 million complete the top five.

Looking ahead to the final three months of this year, Canalys said that smartphone brands will focus more on optimizing supply chains, reorganizing pricing strategies, and offering new carrier deals.
