If you have an iPhone 13 or earlier device with a degraded battery, now might be the best time to replace the battery. On its website, Apple announced that out-of-warranty battery service for all iPhone models (except the iPhone 14) will increase by $20.
For example, Apple’s iPhone battery service will drop from $69 to $89 starting in March. The iPhone 14 lineup isn’t included in this price adjustment, as it was already $99 for these models from the start.
Apple currently charges $69 for newer generations of iPhones like the iPhone 13, iPhone 12, iPhone 11, and iPhone X. iPhone SE and iPhone 8 and earlier models are charged $49. These prices will run through the end of February and increase $20 starting March 1, 2023.
Apple battery replacement is available at Apple retail locations through the Genius Bar, online using the courier service, or through authorized resellers.
The self-service repair shop is an alternative option for official battery repair using original parts, introduced by Apple last year. Prices for parts on the self-service site are currently around the cost of making it through Apple. Presumably, the indicated self-service costs will also increase at the same time in March.
A few years ago in 2018, Apple slashed the cost of battery replacements to just $29 following the iPhone delay scandal. It was part of the miscommunication apology about how the iPhone’s software adjusts processor performance when the battery degrades. Customers may have the battery replaced to restore optimum performance.
Battery replacement prices were then set at the $69 level for 2019 and beyond, up until this latest announcement of a $20 increase.
