Apple raises prices for iPhone battery replacements. It will be cheaper to buy a new smartphone

Expensive => more expensive => iPhone battery replacement.

iPhone battery replacement: prices have gone up since March

“The current battery post-warranty service fee will be in effect until the end of February 2023. Starting March 1, 2023, the battery post-warranty service fee will be increased by PLN 130 for all iPhone models older than iPhone 14”- this information was on the official website page Apple website.

This means that the battery replacement price for each iPhone series will change as follows:

  • iPhone 14 – PLN 589 (unchanged);
  • iPhone 13, 12, 11, XS, XR and X – 459 PLN (instead of 329 PLN);
  • iPhone 8, 7, 6s, 6 and SE – 359 PLN (instead of 229 PLN).

To say it will be expensive is an understatement. The cost of battery replacement in all iPhones with Face ID will exceed PLN 400. Is hard.

Apple is preparing increases not only in Poland, but probably in all countries. For example, in the US, the cost of replacing a battery will increase by USD 20 (approx. PLN 90), in Germany by EUR 24 (approx. PLN 112), and in the UK by £20 (approx. PLN 106).

It will be cheaper to buy a new Android smartphone than to replace the iPhone battery

PLN 459 is the amount for which – at the time of writing this text – you can buy e.g. smartphones from famous brands such as Redmi 9A, Motorola Moto G20 or realme C21Y.

Of course, I’m not saying that anyone will want to switch from the iPhone 12 to the budget Android, but these examples illustrate just how absurd the prices for the service become.

Apple wants more for simple battery replacement than the competition demands for an all-new smartphone with a screen, cameras, processor, memory, accessories and, of course, a built-in battery.

2023 is starting badly.
