NEW YORK – One of the most popular fall activities of the season is apple picking. And if you live in the three-state area, you’re lucky to be in the ideal region for this type of business.
New York, New Jersey and Connecticut have many places to go and partake in the beloved autumn tradition.
From apple picking to cider donuts to hayrides, we share these local spots for fall fun.
GRANJA FAMILIAR HARBES (LONG ISLAND)
- Where is it: Harbes Orchard – 5698 Sound Ave., Riverhead, NY
- hours: Open Monday and Friday from 10:00 to 17:00; weekends and holidays from 9:00 to 18:00 (Closed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays).
- Things: Apple picking is the main attraction at the 78-acre Harbes Orchard, part of the Harbes Family Farm. The orchard has 27 different apple varieties. However, the Harbes Family Farm also offers a number of other popular fall activities, including pumpkin picking and cider donuts.

GRANJA DE LEWIN (LONG ISLAND)
- Where is it: 812 Sound Ave., Calverton, New York
- hours: from 9:00 to 16:30 (unless otherwise indicated for limited quantities or weather conditions). Call 631-929-4327 to confirm the daily schedule.
- Things: Lewin’s Farm is a family run farm in its fourth generation. It is Long Island’s first self-service farm. The apple harvest lasts until October and sometimes later depending on the season. Apple varieties include Honeycrisp and Macoun ready.

SCHMITT FAMILY FARM (LONG ISLAND)
- Where is it: 26 Pinelawn Road, Melville, New York
- hours: Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 17:00 and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00
- Things: The Schmitt family farm offers a number of seasonal specialties, including fruit and vegetable picking and hayrides.

WILKENS FRUIT AND FIR FARM (WESTCHESTER COUNTY)
- Where is it: 1335 White Hill Road, Yorktown Heights, New York
- hours: Choose yours from 10:00 to 16:30
- Things: Wilkens Fruit & Fir Farm, located in Yorktown Heights, New York, offers a wide variety of activities including picking apples, pumpkins, peaches, a corn maze, and more.

AGRITURISMO STUART (WESTCHESTER COUNTY)
- Where is it: 62 Granite Springs Road, Granite Springs, New York
- hours: Choose yours from 10:00 to 17:00 every day.
- Things: This family-run farm has been in Westchester County since 1828 and offers a range of activities, including the apple harvest which began on September 6 and runs every day through November. Macintosh, Gala, Red Delicious and Fujis are among the dozens of apple varieties on offer.

NEW JERSEY
GRANGIA DI ALTEDE
- Where is it: 84 Route 513, Chester, NJ
- hours: Pick-Your-Own is open every day until November.
- Things: Alstede Farm offers apple picking and other family-oriented fall activities, including pumpkin people and corn mazes. However, due to health concerns, Alstede Farms currently requires all tickets Choose yours they are purchased on your website prior to your visit.

DEMAREST FARM
- Where is it: 244 Wierimus Road, Hillsdale, NJ
- hours: Weekends in September and October from 8:00 to 17:00 (booking required online).
- Things: The apple harvest began on September 3 this year at Demarest Farms. Reservations must be made in advance due to COVID-19. Demarest Farms also offers pumpkin picking, movie nights and a Halloween light show, among other activities. All tickets must be purchased in advance.

GRANIJA PHILLIPS
- Where is it: Milford, New Jersey
- hours: Open only Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 to 18:00 (with last admission at 17:30).
- Things: This family-run farm offers the opportunity to harvest apples and peaches.

CONNECTICUT
ORCHARDS FOR RENT BLUE
- Where is it: 125 Plumtrees Road, Bethel, CT
- hours: Collect apples from 11am to 4.30pm.
- Things: There are over 20 apple varieties to pick at Blue Jay Orchards. In addition, there is a pumpkin patch, a farmers market and a bakery.

- Where is it: 451 Sport Hill Road, Easton, CT
- Now: they are open 7 days a week from 9:00 to 17:00
- Things: In addition to the apple harvest, The Silverman Farms offers scenic tractor rides, an animal farm and a country market.

- Where is it: Southington, CT
- Now: Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00
- Things: The apple harvest season at Rogers Orchards, located in Southington, has started and will continue until mid-October.
