Apple Pay will soon also work with credit cards in the Netherlands NOW

The Apple Pay mobile payment service will soon also work with credit cards in the Netherlands, Apple confirms to NU.nl, after reporting by Bright. Several Dutch banks that offer Apple Pay make it possible to add a credit card to the payment service in the spring or summer.

With Apple Pay you can make contactless payment at POS terminals with your iPhone or Apple Watch. This is done via the Wallet app, Apple’s digital wallet.

You verify every payment with your fingerprint, face recognition or the Apple Watch wear detection. As a result, it is no longer necessary to enter a pin code for amounts above 25 euros.

Apple Pay has been available in the Netherlands since last year through Bunq, ING, ABN AMRO and Rabobank.

At the moment it is only possible to link payment cards to Apple Pay. Apple says that they have chosen because the Dutch pay much more with their debit card than with their credit card.

Apple Pay already works with credit cards in the United States. Apple also offers its own credit card, Apple Card. According to Apple, this will not appear in the Netherlands that soon.
