Apple has taken the time to present a foldable iPhone. And it is that, from experience, the company prefers to wait for a safe product, before taking risks with one that in the long run has more complications than benefits, as some bets of other firms with this type of device.
Thus, some reports show that at least in concept, the company has already solved several of the weaknesses of today’s folding phones, such as the screen and hinges. Of course, these reports also include innovations like the ones shown a new patent on the folding iPhone camera system.
The camera of the folding iPhone would have a peculiarity never seen before
As shared Phonearena, Apple has submitted a request called “Camera systems for flexible electronic devices”. The request coincides with the alleged testing of one of the two folding designs with its main contract manufacturer, Foxconn. The latter reportedly put the two designs through QA tests and both prototypes have already been seen in some videos.
In the patent application, Apple says:
‘An electronic device can have a flexible housing made of flexible fabric, flexible polymer, or other flexible materials. The cameras can be mounted in the housing. The housing can be folded into different configurations… Cameras can have respective camera image capture directions. By reorienting the cameras by folding the housing, the cameras can be used to capture panoramic images or 3D images. ‘
Although Apple is often innovative, the patent application has surprised, indicating that the cameras would connect to the phone using wired or wireless technology. Which indicates that the cameras could be in a case used by the phone and not placed directly. The case would be removable and would allow the user to be creative when it comes to taking photos and taking videos.
This year, like never before, reports speak of specific foldable iPhone prototype tests, supporting the until recently, refutable possibility that Apple if you are interested in introducing a foldable device, but as is also the norm in the company, in due time.
