Apple Patents Flip-Up Screen for Electronic Devices: A Closer Look

Apple has patented an electronic device that has a flip-up screen.

And Apple submitted its papers related to the invention to the US authorities last November, after leaks about similar preparations in 2021.

According to what was revealed by the patent, it is possible to convert the regular screen into a twisted one, parts of which are wrapped, to reduce the screen space in front of the user.

According to the patent text, the use of a “thin” layer of glass in the openable part, as well as a screen made in such a way as to allow “upward pressure on the surface of the glass facing outward”, can help prevent damage to the screen when it is bent and twisted.
While the patent mentions electronic devices in general, it also refers specifically to portable devices such as smartphones.

Although several companies have developed screens that can be opened and rolled, such as “LG” and Motorola, but it has not been launched to the public on a large scale.
Despite obtaining the patent, Mashable believes that the date for launching devices with this invention remains far away, especially since technical companies take all the time they need to develop their devices to meet the aspirations of users in a high way.
