Apple Optimizes iMovie for MacBook Pro M1 Pro and M1 Max, Cinematic Mode Support

Apple on Monday released an update to its iMovie video editing software for Mac with support for footage shot using the iPhone’s Cinematic Mode. 13 and optimizations for Apple Silicon.

Optimizations that take full advantage of the power and performance of the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips in the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros.

Here’s what’s new in this version of iMovie for Mac:

Cinematic Mode

• Edit videos shot on iPhone 13 in Cinematic mode (requires macOS Monterey).

• Use the Inspector’s cinematic controls to change the intensity of the depth effect.

• Indicate the focus on faces or other objects by selecting them in the viewer.

• View and remove focus centers in the video timeline.

Optimized for Apple chips

• Take advantage of improved performance and efficiency with optimizations for the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips found in the new MacBook Pro

This update is available for download today from the Mac App Store.
