All major electronics manufacturers, including Apple, NVIDIA and AMD, have significantly reduced the volume of orders for chip production from TSMC. This was reported by the Taiwanese portal DigiTimes.
According to the publication, the production line load of products with a 7nm process technology will be about 50%, even the most advanced standard conveyor belts will not operate at full capacity. A similar situation will occur with older technical processes, including 28nm, which have previously been 100% used for several years.
A similar situation arose due to an oversupply of manufactured products on the market: in 2022, the demand for equipment fell sharply. DigiTimes notes that TSMC is prepared to both accept compensation from customers and hold wafer chips for them until demand picks up again. In addition, the Taiwanese company is considering reviewing long-term agreements with partners.
