Apple needs to fix iMessage with iOS 15 – Marseille News

We all love using iMessage – and we usually boast about using it with our friends, family, and loved ones. Even though iMessage has improved and grown significantly since its initial launch, Apple can still improve it in several ways with iOS 15 this year.

With iOS 14, the company finally introduced the wired answering feature on iMessage, brought pinned conversations, and made big improvements to the app, but with iOS 15, Apple needs to do more.

For example, have you ever tried scrolling through your old messages on iMessage? It is almost impossible. You can have gigabytes of data that you probably won’t be able to access even if you know the exact words you wrote a few years ago.

And I’m not the only one who thinks Apple should do something. There are several discussions on the forum regarding the ability to scroll to the start of an iMessage chat on the web. Spencer Dailey, on the Key Discussions blog, wrote about this problem while trying to find old messages with his wife:

Finding particular iMessages is not helpful as it is unreliable when finding iMessages that are more than 2 years old. The results miss the larger context of the conversation, or in my case old posts just don’t show up in search. My wife and I know the text of our first posts (we have a screenshot of our first 5 or so posts), and search just doesn’t return them. But also, and if you forget the exact wording of an old message, you are doubly unlucky. (And no, I never turned on the ‘Auto-delete old conversations’ option, which is an inappropriate choice for presenting users in the first place.

Here, it does not matter whether he has 64 GB of storage on his iPhone or more than 512 GB. The same applies if the messages are stored in iCloud.

And that’s just not it. The experience of using iMessage on Mac is not that of Apple. It always takes longer to sync messages, it never understands when a group changes names or photos, and it’s hard to find pictures shared a few weeks ago.

Dailey reminded me of the things I hate the most about using iMessage:

Yesterday I tried to scroll to the “top” of my iMessages coming from and to my wife. After just a few minutes, my computer with 16 GB of RAM started to ‘ball on the beach’ and the application froze before I could even access the messages from 6 months ago. During this time, my wife tried to access our first messages on her iPhone 8 Plus and it was even sadder: after more than 45 minutes of scrolling, she had less than a year after starting the conversation , then iMessages app crashed on it.

Main features of iMessage on iOS 15

While having a new Memoji customization is always great, there are several things Apple should do to make iMessage better. Here are some ideas for iOS 15:

Delete recently sent messages; Improve the answer wire function; Fixed Mac integration with other devices – no more dubbed groups; Let users store all the messages they have – and let them access the messages; Let a user send a link, then preview rather than waiting for the preview to appear, then send the message.

In this article, I don’t even want to compare iMessage with WhatsApp, Telegram, or Signal. I think we’ve let Apple have these “few” issues over the years with iMessage because it’s so much more convenient to just text someone rather than open another app, but it’s about time some of these issues are resolved.
