Apple Music promises lossless audio quality on its platform

The time when we simply downloaded an MP3 to listen to our favorite songs is long gone. The service migrated to YouTube as a platform to keep up with music trends and now, as with the content of series, films and documentaries, there is a lot to choose from among streaming services that offer music. It is even a decision that makes many doubt about which is the best option. And to this doubt is added the new promise of Apple Music that guarantees its users audio without quality loss and Dolby Atmos without adding a single weight to the end of the month bill.

So, many users who are thinking of joining this type of service, or already have time and want to change, ask themselves several questions. The price, to have a reference to the continent, we are going to leave it as the least relevant option, but without a doubt we understand that it is very important. In other words, the quality offered by each of these applications in terms of audio fidelity and variety of content will first be taken into account.

First, let’s identify the most important platforms that offer audio content. By this we mean songs, world music news, podcasts and even audiobooks or classes in a certain language. Then Apple Music HiFi, Spotify, Deezer HiFi and Tidal appear, which usually has several plans to present. And although there is some other platform out there that we do not want to minimize, we believe that these four rule the music content market.

Did Apple Music gain ground?

This Monday Apple announced that the HiFi service will officially arrive for its music platform. And in addition, it affirms that it will maintain its prices for all regions where the service works. The latter is a point very much in favor of the Cupertino giants, since now their quality goes from 24 bits to 192 kHz. In the same way, the company adds Dolby Atmos to its audio that, in order for it to be appreciated, it must have the corresponding devices.

That is to say that to get quality audio without loss it will be necessary to have AirPods Pro or AirPods Max, as explained Applesfera.

Currently this platform has more than 70 million titles.

  • Chile: CLP $ 3,400 individual / 4,900 family (per month)
  • Mexico: MXN $ 99 individual / 199 family (per month)
  • Argentina: USD $ 4.99 (per month) It depends on the price of the dollar at the time of the TDC cutoff.

Spotify: an old acquaintance who must row

There is no doubt that Spotify is the most used platform of this style on the planet. However, in terms of audio fidelity it is one of the most questioned. Spotify has the advantage that, at the end of advertising in its service, it can count on free users. And under this modality it reaches 128 Kbps.

However, when it comes to the paid service, that is, the Premium. Spotify reaches 320 Kbps. Similarly, the followers of this program are waiting for the Spotify HiFi, of which there are many rumors, but few certainties. In principle it would have a higher cost than the service that is already known. But it remains to hope that the company will decide with this Apple Music novelty.

Spotify, like those in Cupertino, have more than 70 million titles.

  • Chile: CLP $ 6290 Premium Familiar
  • México: MXN $ 179 Premium Familiar
  • Argentina: ARS $199 Premium Familiar

Tidal: quality and exclusive price

Tidal seems to be at the top of audio quality on music platforms. Their common interface comes at a price, but the HiFi service doubles it. However, it offers “a bit rate 4.4 times higher than the highest standard definition transmissions offered by other services”, as reviewed Adls Zone.

This program has two types of audios, a high one that reaches 44.1 kHz which is the equivalent of 1411 Kbps, which exceeds any common mentioned, with the exception of Apple Music. But, it has on its servers about 50,000 titles framed in a codec catalog identified with the acronym MQA (Master Quality Authenticated). These reproductions are handled in Flac or Wav format and arrive at 96 kHz and 24 bits, the equivalent of 1850 Kbps.

Some say Tidal has more than 70 million titles, others 60 million. Specifically, it is vast and does so at an unbeatable price in some countries. All in its HiFi version (the one that is most worth it), they cost the following:

  • Chile: CLP $ 6376
  • México: MXN $ 199
  • Argentina: ARS $ 138 (one of the cheapest).

Deezer: quality guaranteed

Like Tidal, Deezer uses a Flac format, that is, a lossless tablet. Same as taken to more popular units, it could reach a level of 1411 Kbps or 16 Bits.

“With Deezer HiFi, you can get high-fidelity sound – which means you get uncompressed music files encoded in FLAC format,” they detail in their official portal.

Finally, Deezer is one of the platforms that offers the greatest amount of variety on its platform with more than 72 million devices.

The HiFi version of the service costs:

  • Chile: CLP $ 6290
  • México MXN $179
  • Argentina ARS $ 145.
