Apple Music not syncing? An ongoing issue was preventing iCloud Music Libraries from syncing.
During the past 72 hours, many Apple Music users have experienced service issues. Subscribers took to the Internet to complain about not being able to access their music libraries. “Why won’t Apple Music sync my iCloud Music Library?” ask a query. The problem appears to have been resolved for now, but this is what happened.
ICloud Music Library allows Apple Music users to store their personal library online. Match uploaded songs listed in iTunes or upload them directly if none are available. The service is included as part of an Apple Music subscription. It is also included in a separate service called iTunes Match.
Users started reporting problems when trying a sync from Apple Music library on macOS or iTunes on Windows. Those affected by the issue would see an error screen announcing that the sync failed and the error text, “Genius results cannot be updated at this time. The network connection was lost «. The message appeared even though there were no network connection problems, many users report.
Users who were affected by Apple Music out of sync were unable to access synced playlists and music.
That includes Mac, PC, and iOS devices, making your local music library practically useless. Reauthorizing the machine with Apple Music didn’t fix the problem – it was a server-side issue. Apple’s system status page did not mention problems with iCloud for the past 72 hours.
However, people who have contacted Apple support personnel have been told that they are aware of the problem. People who are affected by Apple Music out of sync should try syncing their library again as the problem seems to be fixed. Apple has not commented on what caused the problem or whether or not it could return.
Earlier this year, many iPhone users reported problems with their apps and services. The bug turned out to be related to a flaw in Facebook’s software development kit. Many of the apps that relied on Facebook login services reported problems. The Apple Music out of sync problem could be similar, where Apple experienced issues with its iCloud service.
For now, if you’re having trouble syncing your local iCloud library, try restarting your Mac.
