Apple offers the Apple Music Classical app on Android before the iPad and Mac versions.
Starting today, Android device owners who are Apple Music subscribers can take advantage of the classical music streaming app. Rarely can they benefit from this service before iPad or Mac users. Even if we suspect it won’t take long to arrive, the Apple brand isn’t done yet with dedicated apps for macOS and iPadOS.
According to the 9TB 5 Mac website, it makes sense to prioritize Apple Music Classical for Android over other Apple platforms. This separate app builds on Apple’s acquisition of Primephonic, which was a standalone classical music subscription service. In the same way that Apple Music for Android replaced Beats Music, PrimePhonic for Android disappeared after its acquisition by Apple. So it was about filling a gap in the Apple brand’s live broadcast exposure.

Apple Music Classical takes the main lines of this defunct service while distinguishing itself from Apple Music “in short” through its differentiated user interface and specific metadata. Additionally, recordings are broadcast available to listeners in lossless audio format at 192kHz/24-bit, with some works even available in multichannel audio. Enough to satisfy even the most demanding fans of this style of music.
