Movies like “Hereditary”, “Moonlight”, “Lady Bird” and “Midsommar” originate from A24, with A24 also being responsible for Apple TV + content, including “Mr. Corman ”and“ On the Rocks ”as well as the upcoming films“ Sharper, “The Sky is Everywhere”, “The Tragedy of Macbeth”, “Bride” and more.
A24 claims $ 2.5 billion to $ 3 billion and has been talking to potential buyers for over 18 months. According to the diversityIt is not clear whether these talks will continue, as a source close to the company says A24 is now focused on expanding.
Some of the sources interviewed the diversity said Apple and A24 were discussing a possible acquisition when they announced their multi-year film deal in 2018, but other sources said the two companies had discussions more recently.
Apple appears to be trying to expand its Apple TV + line, and recent rumors also suggest that Apple has expressed interest in purchasing Reese Witherspoon’s production company Hello Sunshine.
If Apple ultimately buys A24, it could become part of Apple Studios, Apple’s own production company that owns a stake in some of its “Apple TV +” shows.
