Apple maps were not going to be exempt from new features in the next version of iOS, 14.5, which has been in beta for a few days and has already been the protagonist of some surprises. From TechCrunch have been able to detect that Apple Maps will incorporate new sections to report accidents, traffic jams and speed cameras.

This will make Apple’s maps look a bit more like Waze, the well-known service that makes use of users’ circulation data to trace optimal routes depending on the current traffic. In the case of Apple Maps, drivers or co-drivers may report road problems using the CarPlay or Siri interface.
The information you want, without risking yours
The main advantage of this over the competition is, once again, Privacy. Apple would collect the data we tell it about traffic, but it would not track anything about who left it or their approximate position at the time. Those who did not use Waze for privacy reasons may find this a more secure alternative.

We can test these functions for the duration of the beta of iOS 14.5, although they will disappear once the stable version arrives. It seems like Apple want to reserve the novelty later and has placed it in the current betas as a first experiment.
