Apple MacBook Pro: This is the power difference between 14-inch notebooks

Apple recently unveiled – on October 18th – the latest generation of notebooks MacBook Pro for 2021. We have, in effect, new 14-inch and 16-inch models equipped with the new processors Apple M1 Pro Where Apple M1 Max.

Among the new Apple processors there is a difference in the number of cores (cores) present in each of the chips. Therefore, it is natural that the raw performance of each of these processors will differ, something that is now ascertained by Geekbench 5.

20% difference in processing power between M1 Pro and M1 Max

The new Apple chipsets were introduced on October 18th.

We can now contemplate the results obtained on the Geekbench 5 test platform with the 14-inch Apple MacBook Pro notebooks. There, the versions with the 8-core M1 processor were tested, as well as the versions with the 8-core M1 Pro processor and, finally, the top version, equipped with the 10-core M1 Max processor.

Please note, however, that this is just a test. Therefore, it is important to cross these values with new rounds of tests and, preferably, also compare the scores obtained on similar platforms before issuing a final judgment.

Nevertheless, we see a 20% difference in processing power between MacBook Pro 14” notebook with M1 Pro chip (8-core) and MacBook Pro 14” with M1 Max chip (10-core).

More significant is the power differential demonstrated in the tests multi-core. There we see a difference close to 30% between the M1 Pro (8-core) versus the M1 processor (8-core).

  • Processador M1 Max (10-core) Single: 1 764 Multi: 12 380

In summary, with the new 14-inch and 16-inch Apple MacBook Pro notebooks hitting the market, we now have a more concrete sense of the improvements present. Apple once again outperforms itself with a solid performance boost.

These are the most expensive but best equipped laptops that Cupertino’s technology has ever brought to market. Finally, they are machines aimed at the professional market, with the potential to surprise even the most demanding.

In Portugal the new MacBook Pro starts at €2,349 and will be available from the 26th of October 2021.

We are now looking forward to the renewal of the iMac range, possibly in early 2022.
