Apple Lowers Small Business App Store Tax Next Year | NOW

Apple is going to halve the commission that smaller developers of iOS apps have to pay, the tech giant announced on Wednesday. The commission applies to small purchases in apps.

App makers currently have to hand over 30 percent of the revenue from each purchase to Apple. Only for subscriptions applies that the commission drops to 15 percent after one year.

From January 2021, a lower rate will apply to companies making less than $ 1 million per year: 15 percent. This involves $ 1 million in actual income, so without the commission. The reduction takes effect automatically at the beginning of the calendar year.

Include Microsoft, Spotify and Fortnitecreator Epic Games went head-to-head with Apple over the commissions this year. They think 30 percent of every purchase is too much.
