This update introduces a slew of new features and improvements, most notably the long-awaited Journal app, support for spatial video capture on iPhone 15 Pro, and improved security measures in iMessage.
The all-new magazine application
The Journal app provides a dedicated space for users to capture their thoughts, ideas, and experiences, and the app features a clean and intuitive interface, with many digital pen styles, stickers, and image embed capabilities to personalize entries.
Additionally, iCloud sync ensures seamless access across Apple devices, making it a convenient tool for journaling on the go.
Spatial video for professional users
iPhone 15 Pro users can now capture spatial videos, a new feature that adds depth and dimension to recordings. Using an advanced on-device LiDAR scanner, spatial videos capture the 3D geometry of a scene, allowing viewers to experience it in a whole new way when wearing a compatible headset like Apple Vision Pro.
iMessage updates
iMessage is receiving a major security upgrade by introducing Call Key Verification. This optional feature allows users to verify the identity of the person they are messaging, ensuring that their conversations are truly private and secure. Verification can be done by comparing secure codes, adding an extra layer of trust to Online communication.
Other improvements
iOS 17.2 also includes a slew of other improvements and additions, and the Weather app receives new widgets that display real-time weather conditions on the home screen.
The Clock app is also updated with a new digital clock design, providing a modern, customizable look for time keeping. In addition, iOS 17.2 brings several bug fixes and performance improvements.
