Cupertino. Apple on Monday announced the launch of a new iPhone equipped with generative artificial intelligence (AI), in an attempt to boost its sales and keep up with the technological race.
These are the “first iPhones designed from the ground up for Apple Intelligence,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a video released at the company’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, and online.
Apple Intelligence, the company’s AI software, will be used to improve its personal assistant, as well as power features such as understanding and identifying objects captured by the phone’s camera.
A trial version of Apple Intelligence will be available in spoken English in the United States next month, in December for other English versions, and next year in languages including Chinese, French, Japanese and Spanish.
The iPhone 16 will use the new A18 chip and have an aluminum back, as well as a new customizable button that can be used for camera controls.
The iPhone 16 will be sold starting at $799 and the iPhone 16 Plus at $899.
In Mexico, pre-orders will begin next Friday, September 13 at 6:00 a.m. and will be available starting September 20. Version 16 will start at a price of 19,999 pesos and the 16 Plus will start at 22,999 pesos.
Chinese tech giant Huawei on Monday secured more than 3 million pre-orders for its three-sided foldable smartphone, its website showed, just hours before the debut of Apple’s next-generation iPhone.
Huawei’s Mate XT, a Z-shaped trifold smartphone, is set to be unveiled at a launch event on Tuesday, the company announced on its WeChat social media account.
