As promised, Apple now launches a new version of iOS. After 3 rounds of improvements in beta versions, the company last week put the RC version and now iOS 14.6 is available for everyone.
One of the great news is the launch of podcast subscriptions for individual channels and programs. But there is more!
This update, in addition to the subscriptions to the individual Podcasts channels, brings minor changes in the functioning of the Airtags. In addition, it also adds something interesting to the Accessibility group. It's time to update your iPhone operating system.
Podcasts
- Support for subscriptions to individual programs and channels.
AirTag and Find
- Lost mode option to add an e ‑ mail address instead of a phone number for AirTags and Find network accessories.
- Viewing the owner's partially concealed phone number when touching the AirTag with an NFC-compatible device.
Accessibility
- Voice control users can unlock the iPhone for the first time after restarting the device using voice only.
This update also addresses the following issues:
- It might not be possible to unlock with the Apple Watch after using Lock iPhone on the Apple Watch.
- Reminders could appear as blank lines.
- Call blocking extensions might not appear in Settings.
- Bluetooth devices could occasionally end the call or send audio to another device during an active call.
- The iPhone could have a reduced level of performance during startup.
Shazam App Clip
Other novelties are found, for example, in Shazam. This service, that was acquired by Apple in 2017, it was fully integrated into the iPhone and iPad last year with iOS 14.2.
According we saw at the time, the service has, since then, a new button to identify the songs directly from the Control Center. Now with iOS 14.6, Apple has expanded this integration and turned it into an App Clip with information about the song.
The process of identifying songs using Shazam remains the same. All the user has to do is go to the Control Center and touch the Shazam icon. Now, instead of receiving a notification that redirects you to a website. Inside, the user will see the details of the song through a Shazam clip application.
In addition to this operating system, Apple has also updated the versions iPadOS 14.6, watchOS 7.5, tvOS 14.6, macOS Big Sur 11.5 and HomePod 14.6.
